Our production and testing team operates out of Stevensville, 30 minutes south of Missoula. At Skyfish you will join a team of talented individuals focused on developing our future product line while supporting and maturing our current line of Skyfish hardware and software. Missoula sits in the Rocky Mountains within a couple hours of Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and boasts several designated wilderness areas in its backyard. Missoula is home to the University of Montana, well known for its science, forestry, health, and performing arts departments as well as a top-rated law school. Three rivers run through the Missoula area offering excellent fishing and boating. The surrounding mountain ranges contain hundreds of miles of single-track biking and hiking opportunities. The historic downtown houses many excellent restaurants, breweries, distilleries, and music venues and is just a short drive from the Snowbowl Ski area and Flathead Lake.
Job Summary
Skyfish is currently seeking a Drone Pilot to test and evaluate air vehicle handling, software integration, and hardware performance. Opportunities for exposure to multiple industries and advancement will come with training and tenure. A routine day encompasses several test flights and the associated data collection, entries, and sharing. Skyfish drone pilots inform and help develop software requirements and refinements. A functional knowledge of aviation is desired, and a Remote Pilot Certificate (UAS Part 107 license) is required.
Pilot Responsibilities
- Follow checklists and flight SOP
- Conduct test flights and flight demonstrations
- Comply with all FAA regulations
- Analyze weather
- Flight log administration
- Test log administration
- Control or monitor drones during flight
- Plan, execute, and debrief flights
- Perform equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Transfer functional knowledge to customers and Skyfish pilots
Pilot Qualifications
- Training or a degree in aviation, engineering, or a related field preferred
- Must have a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA (UAS Part 107 license)
- Must be able to travel 20-50 percent of the time, depending on position and skill level
- Comfortable operating a UAS in various weather and light conditions
- Hand-eye coordination
- Must be detail oriented and be able to follow specific instructions
- Excellent electronic and mechanical skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to remain focused and controlled in distracting or stressful situations
